Leaving the XF system and switching to the GFX system would've kept me in the same trap: Fujifilms crappy AF system and their very slow (and too often: noisy) focusing lenses, combined with an extremely slow development speed, especially for new lenses. Thought a long time about this, but in the end, the decision was easy. Very limited use cases for a GFX camera....

The level of detail is insane isn't it. I have a 50S ii and six months into my GFX journey. The 3D pop is real. I was skeptical of this. My Love for this camera will be immense when I purchase one. I know that I will. I think it's a fantastic camera and I don't own it yet, but I can see what it can do. I have had many of my landscape photos printed and many of my customers have said I feel like I'm on the beach. I feel like I'm in the Woodland. I feel like I'm in the mountain that I've shot and with these portrait shots I feel like I'm standing next to that man, incredible isn't it? I have made the point to many editing is easier with GFX because you can simply edit the file how you want. Thank you for the video. I probably already made up my mind on this camera quite sometime ago. I was really just hoping that the autofocus was okay. Look if I get an 80-90% hit rate. I'm okay with that and all I do in most scenarios is I overshoot anyway and that's okay. I've worked really hard in the last five years and I can afford this camera and that's what I'm gonna do. Yes there are probably cameras that are male versatile I agree with that. I looked at the Nikon Z8 when I was with Nikon but there were many things that I didn't like about that camera and Nikon the company itself the one thing I love about Fuji cameras is actually the Fuji Community but also the colours. Oh my gosh I should a lot of different stuff probably about 80% landscapes but I do shoot some other things and I love the colours that it can produce and I've taken some amazing photos with my 50s ii which I will be keeping.

I think GFX 50 S II would be perfect for You, to start and build GFX lens lineup. I did not upgrade my X-H1 yet, and i will jump on GFX system as well.

I've had mine for 3 months (Picked it up from KEH in like-new condition). My only major complaint so far is the cheap antireflective coating they used on the EVF. I was shooting photos in Greece this week (warm humid summer weather but the camera was not exposed to rain salt or other environmental abuse). I started to notice what I thought was was a big oil smudge in the middle of the view finder. I went to clean it gently with a microfiber cloth, and to my dismay the coating right in the center of the EVF just came off immediately. Now I'm left with a smudgy inconsistent viewfinder and am trying to figure out what to do.. do I just try to wipe off the rest of it so I have a consistent view with no coating, or do I contact KEH and ask them to replace the EVF.... Seems like a LOT of people on reddit had this issue... Its disappointing either used such a crappy fragile coating for the XT5... either that, or their Chinese supplier cut corners..

Trust me, from my past experience those expensive-to-replace metal lens caps DO fall off. And it usually happens on a noisy street where you won’t hear it ding when it hits the ground such that you might be able to retrieve it. ;-/.

autofocus is not reliable - it is unacceptable - that green square animation gives false positive results- how many years fuji struggels with this issue? from my own experience minimum from x-s10, and their firmware sometimes makes this case even worst,

Torn between Xt5 and Xt50 as my first Fuji. I have a Canon R6 Mii that I’m keeping, but trading in my R8 for a Fuji. Use my R6 Mii for mostly sports and getting a Fuji for street, portraits and just daily use. I don’t travel a ton but would use it for travel too. Will you please do a comparison between the XT5 and Xt50? What would you suggest for me? I’m so torn! Ugh.

I'm a little confused by the comparisons. The X-T5 has nearly double the MP than the X-T4. You're zooming in 200% on the images in the comparisons. With this, wouldn't you clearly see the difference in quality (optimized or not) just in the different camera's resolution sizes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The film sim dial is a great idea it encourages me to play around more with different looks…..the alternative is an ISO dial but I use auto iso all the time or back to drive dial….again that I set it and use it kind of thing. So the sim dial encourages me to experiment.

This is a great video that answers a lot of questions. I like the design of both cameras, but I too felt that the Nikon was more robustly built. That is not to say that the Fuji was flimsy. It’s a solid camera too. HOWEVER when at B&H Photo I slapped on a Leica 35mm Summicron lens onto the body of the 60 megapixel Leica SL3 and it immediately achieved such a retro look and had such a solid feel to it besides ooozing so much beauty that I very quickly forgot all about both the Fuji and Nikon retro cameras, even going so far as to put the price of the Leica completely out of my mind. Everything that I watched in your tremendous video regarding the Fuji XT-5 and the Nikon Zf was wiped out from my memory as my brain cells were super charged in a completely different direction as I placed my order for the Leica SL3 thus putting myself on a 6 month waiting list, despite the glaring fact that BOTH the Fuji XT-5 and the Nikon Zf were right behind me on their respective display counters and in stock at B&H Photo……….when I left the store with my receipt for the Leica SL3 in hand I felt the warm tears of joy streaming down my face as I was fully prepared to endure the long wait time for that BIRD OF PARADISE that is seldom seen and only heard of, to arrive on my doorstep in 6 months. With all due respect to both the Fuji and Nikon retro styled cameras, in my humble opinion the Leica SL3 with the Leica Summicron 35mm lens attached is the king of all retro cameras combined

New AF is the worst than ever on xt5

cool idea, what I likely will do is make C7 Q-menu setting for using this as I normally shoot only RAW...and whatever further settings I want for this situation. I used to have a 100V digital converter was different in that camera

If you go into the settings, you can control the aperture from the lens actually look it up

my T5 kit with 16-80 should be here in a couple days, Yea I think the optimized lens thing is more marketing for Fuji, I love my Sigma 18-50 f2.8 and Sigma 56mm F1.4 on my S20. SO sharp. Am selling my S20 , more I Hate that flippy screen. I am all photos never use video. I do want the sharper 40mp sensor and cropping is improved also. Plus the EVF is superior to S20 one. I did have a T3 yrs ago. I liked your video showing adjusting the C1-C7 settings, Did like the C1-C3 on the dial of the s20

A really fair review I'd say. Personally, for the difference in size and weight, I'd always go for the interchangeable lens system. An X100VI is 521g inc. card and battery. An XT-5 is 557g inc. cards and battery, body only. The dimensions aren't massively off either (128x75x55mm vs 130x91x64mm in case you're wondering). Stick an XF23mm f2 on the front and you're only adding 180g. Then factor in the pricing and availability. Pay £1600 here in the UK for a space on the waitlist for the X100VI, or head to MPB and get a 'like new' XT-5 and the 23mm f2 for a combined £1700 (even brand new from Fuji that combo is just shy of £1900). That would be my preference, but to each their own. Interesting comments on the rest of it though. I bought an X-H2 recently (I prefer the body/layout to the XT-5) and despite the AF tripping itself up every now and then, I've never been so pleased with my in camera results. I shoot raw and jpeg to different cards but am continually sharing the jpegs straight from the camera. I can't remember the last time I felt the need to grab the raw and tweak it. Acros+G has become my favourite film sim (with classic chrome a close second), and I think it's this ability to get pleasing results immediately that's making me accept the camera can be annoying in other areas, but that the grass won't necessarily be greener on the other side. Great work as always and good to hear some honest opinions. Fuji discussion often seems to be 'it's the best' or 'it's the worst' with nothing in the middle, so it's refreshing to view your content.👍

You mentioned digital artifacts when blowing up the pixel 8 Pro images. Since it is in raw, can you reduce the clarity to eliminate that?

I had an XT3 and traded it in out of frustration with is sub par AF. Got a Canon R6, which is far beyond the old XT3.The AF is so good, they must be using extraterrestrial technology. But I miss the small size of the Fuji, especially the lenses. I primarily use my camera for travel, and Canon lenses are really big. Something like the new xf16-50 and the 70-300 would seem like an ideal kit for travel. What would I lose in IQ and percentage of shots with properly focused eyes if I went Fuji again with the XT5?

Fuji’s tilting viewfinder is so great.

Would love to see someone comment on Fujifilm vs Canon for high ISO performance and low light.
